Warning from Trend Anti-Virus by blindman 2004-05-11 10:15:31
As of May 11, 2004, 8:54 AM (GMT -07:00; Daylight Saving Time), TrendLabs has declared a Medium Risk Virus Alert to control the spread of WORM_WALLON.A. TrendLabs has received Several infection reports indicating that this malware is spreading in Germany and EMEA.

This mass-mailing worm exploits certain vulnerabilities found on Windows systems.
Upon execution, this worm sends out an email message containing several links to a porn Web site. Once these links are clicked, it downloads the following file into the Windows Media Player folder:

WMPLAYER.EXE

When this .EXE file is opened, it then downloads another file ALPHA.EXE into the system's root directory.
This file is also detected by Trend Micro as WORM_WALLON.A.

TrendLabs will be releasing the following EPS deliverables:

TMCM Outbreak Prevention Policy 114 under QA Testing
Official Pattern Release 889 currently being UPLOADED
Damage Cleanup Template 341 under creation
