Also, yes, mixing stuff hits you much worse, in my experience. Not that I binge-drink much, and even if I do it's usually harmless compared to some people I know. Anyway, it's hard to tell whether mixing drinks makes me more drunk (kind of hard to gauge just *how* drunk you are) but there's a world of difference the next morning. I've been completely smashed on just one thing and had no hangover *at all*, while if I mix I'm pretty much guaranteed one. Also, on a moderate binge without any mixing, I'm generally a very well-behaved drunk. And even those moderate binges are very rare. So I agree with the moderation point, certainly.
