| Well, not my computer per se, but Revenue Canada re-reassessed my return, and sent me another $800.
So, that means I get my computer. I'm planning to do a dual-boot, Win98 alongside probably Slackware. To keep it as Linux as possible, I'm looking for Free alternatives to the software Irina uses. Photoshop is easy, I already know about GIMP. That taken care of, I also need to replace: Adobe Illustrator and/or Quark XPress (those are the important ones), maybe Dreamweaver/Flash/etc., and the drivers for our camera (Canon A200), printer (Canon i550), and scanner (HP Scanjet 4400c). The peripherals are not a big problem - I can plug them into another Win or Mac box if needs be, but the graphics software would be nice. I'll try out my Google-fu when I'm awaker, but UFie input is always valuable. |
