Getting Windows 2000 to talk to Samba server by SnappingTurtle 2006-11-19 12:55:59
OK, so my question yesterday was less than clear. Let's start over.

I've got a Samba server. It's up, working, serving out files to PC's on my network. So far so good.

I just put a Windows 2000 computer on the network. It's the only Windows 2000 computer on the network (all the others are Windows 98). I have *no* idea how to get this machine to talk to the Samba server. When I try to map a drive, I get an error saying that "the account is not authorized to connect from this station". I think I'm suffering from paradigm clash, because I don't remember it asking me for a user name or password. Is it *assuming* it should use the user name ("user") and password (none) from when the computer boots up?

Help folks.
