BTW, I'm familiar with the general concept of roleplaying. I'm playing LARP since December 1999 and even looked somewhat into pen'n'paper rules of some systems, but never actually played P&P. Therefore, I was interested in the specific D&D rules when I asked. :-) Be that as it may, I'm willing to give it a shot. If you don't mind, I'll contact you later - when I'm home from work - concerning character design.
