problem installing windows - help needed! by chaotic2006-11-19 12:55:59
Some ASUS MoBos had a problem by Slamlander 2004-05-11 03:39:41
I had a batch 0f 7 TX97-XEs and they worked fine for years except for a steady degradation over time. The onboard IDE controllers ALL eventually failed (four years, 24x7 operation).

Since then, I've used nothing but Tyan, not because of the IDE controller problem but, Tyan presented the most cost/effective solution. However, based on my past experience with ASUS, I would seriously start looking into the IDE controller as a suspected bad sub-system. Try upgrading to a IDE RAID controller (why I wasn't too concerned with the onboard controller going bad).
