Grill wars! charcoal vs. gas. by Freakazoid2004-05-11 00:27:06
Neither of them. by TheBoard2004-05-11 00:31:48
no wood, use concentrated daystars by scissors 2004-05-11 01:06:31
Wood contains chlorines (right spelling in EN?) and cheapcharcoal has "benzopyrene" in it. Burning the wood leads to benzopyrene too, which will infest your bbq with cancerogenous stuff.

So no "wood" for me, but "purified charcoal" should be safe. About anything that has "visible flames" has the unwanted effect too, so we put our meat on the charcoal AFTER the little wood thingies who are used to litght the coal are removed. (Or something like that. BBQ is definately NOT my cup-of-tea, but i observe my brothers and it takes some work before they say "OK, bring the meat")

I think GAS (as in city-gas or propane/butane) would be safe too, but you don't have the smoke ... is that BBQ ?

OK, if you think BBQ can be as much fun without the smoke: why not use a big lense, and concentrate the daystar's light? It will be hot, if you have a big enough lense. And it's certainly geeky to BBQ that way.
