I'm not and never have been a member of any profesional organisation, my first degree was a BA. Most of the people I've met who are members of profesional organisations I wouldn't trust to design a toothpick. Maybe the situation is different in Canada. Every job title I've had has had the word engineer in it. Going by that artical it looks like that in canada I couldn't call myself an engineer. Personally I think that the whole idea of regulating job titles is silly. Yes I agree, those people aren't really engineers but you can't draw a line that will always be correct so why try. From my experiance engineers are one of the few groups who really don't care what their job title is.
