TECHNICIAN!

A system engineer designs the system so that manufacturing can build it.

A software engineer designs and writes software.

A technician installs and fixes equipment. That is what the technicians in that M$ is dubbing "engineers" do for a living.

I am proud of my BS-EE and BS-CpE. I agree that someone with a few weeks of training in how to install and configure software should NOT be called an engineer. Some of the engineers I work with will tell you that you should have your Profesional Engineer licence to be called an Engineer, which would even preclude me.

Perhaps IEEE, SAE, ASME and the other US engineering organizations should complain as well.
