ARGH, EBAY!!! <grumbles> by MikeCDN 2004-04-12 16:05:18
Okay I bought a usb link cable for me LG 5450 cell phone.
  • March 18 - Buy cable by a ebay seller who seems to wholesale in cables.
  • March 23 - Inquired if product has shipped yet, no responce.
  • April 2 (Morning) - Recived an email requesting feedback be left.
  • April 2 (Afternoon) - Received Product in the mail
  • April 2 - Try out Product, relize that it creates a virtual serial port rather then a true USB connection to the phone, try product anyways, does not function properally, will only download the phone book, and only downloads names, no phone numbers, does not interact with other areas of the phone.
  • April 2 - Call for support, get an answering machine, leave my name, number, phone, problem information.
  • April 12 9:50AM - Annoyed I send the following email
How do I return this product?

The product was defective will only download my phone book and only downloads the name and nothing else.

I called in hopes of receiving tech support but was forced to leave a message, It has been over a week and have received NO RESPONCE.

    How do I return?
  • April 12 2:57PM - I receive
Thank you for your purchase. This item is non-refundable. As stated in every auction and on our website, No software is refundable. If you would like support then you will have to call our number to walk you through the setup.
  • April 12: 3:07PM - I send
Well when you call a number, leave a message and my phone numeber, as instructed and there is never a return call, how do you suggest I do to get support?

As far as I'm concerned this is hardware not software, the auction was misrepersented (its a serial port emulation not true usb), and the hardware is defective considering the only thing that will download is the phone book, and it doesn't even do that right.

I've tried all possible combinations, on multiple computers and I have the same problem.

    What do you suggest?
  • April 12 3:37PM - I receive
Thank you again. You can call our number tomorrow and select either sales or tech support and we will assist you. Can you tell me what phone model you have? The kit is compatible with all of the phones listed. If you are not able to do any of the other functions then you have not read the PDF file on the CD which contains the instructions. Call us and we will walk you through the setup. As for your thoughts on the cable, it is a USB cable. That is great that you know the science behind the technology but still in teams most Humans can understand, its a USB cable.
  • April 12 3:45PM - I send
I'll call again tommorow, whats the prefered hours? If you don't intend on calling your customers back perhaps you shouldn't have an answering machine that says leave your name and number, and information on the problem and you'll call them back.

I have read through the full instructions and gone step by step.

The phone is a LG 5450.

When it downloads the phone book it downloads the names only, no numbers, no settings, just the names, none of the other options work, and I can't upload them once they are downloaded.

Also, yes it is a USB cable, but it is a Serial port function not true USB, the phone has to be put in Serial mode, so I belive that is something that should be noted in the auction becuase it seems deceptive to me.
No responce so far, now I'm extreamly annoyed, I've had my abilty to work tech insulted, I get told to re-call (and let me guess it will be on work hours that I have to do it). They will not refund my money and the only time I get an email is when i start bitching about returning the product.

All I want is one that will be true USB, and I speant $70 on this becuase it looked like the best @$#&ing option, and was willing to try it anyways but it didn't work.

Hmm surely theres a fraud complaint in here somewhere.
