The Great Escape only had three American actors, and James Colburn may have been playing a Canadian or British officer anyway. Saving Private Ryan took place on one of the American beaches, I wouldn't be suprised that the other beaches weren't discussed in detail. And the British movie mogals did have the Brits breaking the sound barrier first. (I've heard of the movie, but I don't have a reference.) I do agree that U571 should have had a British cast.
