Contrary to what liberal minders are cliaming things were found. Like the al-Samoud missile that exceeded the 150km range Iraq agreed to in the Cease-fire agreement. Iraq had built missile test stands indicating they were developing missiles with a range even greater than that of Scud missiles. In 1998 it was believed Iraq still had active WMD programs, why would they not have enhanced and augmented those programs after nearly four years without U.N. inspections? Especially considering the fact that the monitoring cameras put in place by UNSCOM had been disabled by the Iraqis. Al-Qaeda became a priority target after 9/11. Once their support network in Afghanistan was smashed we decided to go after another rogue nation that was in defiance of U.N. Directives to verifiably disarm and in violation of a cease-fire agreement. Iraq continued to be un-cooperative with inspectors and Bush, under attack for not doing enough to stop Al-Qaeda, acted to prevent an attack sponsored by Iraq.
Of course you could look at things that were being said in 2001 and 2002 and come to your own conclusions, but I won't hold my breath as the obvious conclusions are contrary to the party line. |
