I have a coworker here when if something doesn't work, he will write a company wide message to let me know.
A few days ago he had some spyware issues and I told him to download adaware and spybot update then run them and it should clean up. A few days later I find this in my inbox carbon copied to everyone
Michael
My computer's Internet explorer keeps getting these plug - ins to the top & bottom toolbar, all come from http://allaboutsearching.com/ because somehow my IE start page always changes to
http://allaboutsearching.com/passthrough/index.html?
Now did his little computer problem really need to be carbon copied to everyone? That just makes it look like i'm not doing my job right to the rest of th ecompany, if what I suggested didn't work he should have told me directly.
Here's another one from him, Carbon Copied to my boss.
Michael,
please see attached. i did not email italy. Unless someone did from my machine, we may be sending out a virus.
Please advise on status asap.
Geez give me a chance to look into the matter before sending it to my boss, it wasn't a virus, but my boss has virus phobia, so a little indication that there could be one convinces him that we have one, even if its clear we don't.
So I look at the problem, no issue, explain in to the guy, then a couple days later I have my boss interigating me about the companies virus problem and why we aren't secure and impeneratable.
Which reminds me of the time my boss's laptop caught a new virus becuase he refused to run a firewall or let me run Windows update, and then he spread it to the rest of the network before Symantec had virus defs ready. Then I got a lecture becuase our network is supposed to be impeneratble, and why didn't I catch this... ARGH
Okay your thread, I'll stop ranting :) |
