both excellent picks. You can get Max Payne 2 a little cheaper than Far Cry right now, but it'll also be over quicker. It's a great, short, balls-out action game. Downloadable mods help the longevity a bit.
Far Cry has more sci-fi aspects than Max Payne 2 does (although neither is in a sci-fi setting, per se), is quite a bit longer, and boasts some incredible technology in terms of graphics, AI and physics. It's also much more open ended than Max Payne 2 is - you can get through most situations with a variety of strategies.
Both games are violent but neither is overly gory, and you can turn off the gore in both, I believe, if you wish.
It's worth noting that both of these are (or might as well be) exclusively single-player. Far Cry has an online mode, but I hear it's nothing to crow about. Max Payne 2 doesn't have one.
If you're looking for a sci-fi setting FPS with great bots that's fun online and off, you're looking for Unreal Tournament 2004. Incredible game, great bots. |
