What makes you a terrorist is causing terror in the masses of your enemies. The things you described are what makes you a war criminal. Unfortunatly, the term war criminal has lost a lot of it's shame, and the term terrorist has gain too much of a qualifying meaning.
What many people fail to see, especially those with military backgrounds, is that the age of clean, well regulated warfare is over. Modern wars are not fought between militaries, they are fought around militaries, directly against the civilian population, by any methods necessary and completely without rules. What you label a terrorist (and I might even agree in most cases) is a modern day warrior. |
