fingers holding the match and gasoline are the ones who came up with the idea to do it?

In that respect and in that one respect only the terrorists are like military troops. They don't care about any political, geographic or monetary gain so much as doing something that they believe in. Troops can believe in many things for many reasons: faith, family, fear of prosecution, religious fananticism, patirotism or many other things.

But the ones who point them to do a task are usually not the ones who strike the match, pull the trigger or push the button. They are the ones who do things for political, geographic or monetary gain always. The problem is that the ones who pull the strings on the troops are human just like the troops. As such they are also prey to the same emotions: faith, family, fear of prosecution, religious fananticism, patirotism or many other things. And when you add either the troop or the string puller's reasons with a complete disassociation of kinship or empathy with the target from which the gain is to be made, unbelievable attrocities are committed in the name of whatever emotion/gain is considered more important.

Also, just because Islam is parroted about as reason enough for the terrorists to do some unbelievably awful things, I'll bet you anything that that is NOT the reason that the string pullers are pulling the terrorists strings that way.

Fanaticism of ANY flavor has to be humankind's most deadly and unforgiveable sin. At least it is so in my own eyes.

Sigh: By patirotism I of course meant patriotism. by justwanderin2004-04-12 08:15:25
