I think Half-Life was a more revolutionary game. Max Payne 2 was fantastic, but (aside from the physics) didn't really do anything new, just did really well what alot of other games falter on. Far Cry is more in the mold of Half-Life, going out there and doing things successfully that the genre hasn't ever really seen before in terms of AI and open-ended gameplay. The immersion level is by far the highest I've seen since HL.
