Titanium breaks from metal fatigue. by ShadoCat 2004-04-05 21:36:46
Unlike steel, titanium does not does not have a stress threshold (not the proper term but I'm not a mechanical engineer).

As long as the stress doesn't go over the threshold, the metal does not aquire any metal fatigue. Thus, even if titanium can take a higher, single, stress before failing than steel can, accumulated small stresses will cause it to fail when steel will never fail.
