If it's sufficiently solid, you should be able to stuff something in to fill the dap between the door and the frame (on the non-hinge side) in order to rob the door of the room it needs to pivot. Quarters or silver dollars would be much better here than pennies, because of their greater circumference. Nickels seem to work OK. Depends on your specific spacing needs, I'm sure. You'd have to have some pretty compressed cardboard to go that route, though, with this method, it seems to me.
