Maybe it's like "pennying" a door? You shove some cardboard in the jam, then shove some pennies into the layers of cardboard? That way you have the effect of pennying the door, with the added benefit of not damaging the jam/door.

The wedge idea is brilliant, though. What will they think of next? A physically encoded device that would slide something into a hole in the jam? Now THAT would be cool.
