Next time: Call the cops and have them towed by Slamlander 2004-04-05 18:45:12
that is not only the legally correct response, it is also chuck-full of vengence. They will have a real traffic violation and they will have to retrieve their car from police impound.

In most jurisdictions, blocking a driveway is a violation of local fire ordinances. This alone is subject to a traffic fine, if a patrolman sees it, without any action on your part. The fact that they left tracks on the lawn is prime facae evidence that they were trespassing. Also, in the US, the property-line actually goes out to the middle of the street and belongs to your house. The street is built on a public easement. That they were were in violation of local ordinance AND trespassing, makes them subject to immediate towing, even without a complaint. With you complaint, there will be no hesitation, at minimum, they will be facing a traffic fine. Get the license number and they would get the ticket even if they move the car before the officers get there. Just give it to the officers, with your sworn complaint..
