Every English dialect that I am aware of... by kelli217 2004-04-05 16:18:14
...pronounces "of" as "uv."

The contracted suffix "-'ve" is generally applied with a schwa, as well, in most dialects. "Might've" is pronounced "m(EYE)t(UH)v," and "might of" is pronounced "m(EYE)t (UH)v." The only difference is in the possible presence of a glottal stop between the two words in "might of."

I don't care if you spell colour or color, theatre or theater, realise or realize. I don't care what your accent is.

But as long as you don't suffer from the neurological disorders that Celticess does, then communicating incorrectly and passing it off as a regional colloquialism is going to strike me as laziness and intellectual dishonesty.

But, Mike, we can agree to disagree on this point. Right, Naruki? Oh, excuse me... "we can agree that this is a point of contention best left alone for the foreseeable future."
