as I wrote here in my answer to toxins reply "I am not laughing about FGM": I also know that many muslims disapprove Female Genital Mutilation and there is no way to use the Koran for reasoning.

I admit my reply was incomplete, but the islamic influenced part of africa is the part of the world I know FGM is practised even today. That doesn't mean there are not other places in the world as well, as it is listed in the link I provided for you. And I said nowhere, nor intended to give the impression, that the Koran would be the origin of this detestable habit.
