You said your parents have not so great credit. They still can apply and try to get approved for a loan, a PLUS loan or any kind of loan. Try to ask MSU for an extension, won't hurt. Call Cornell and appeal for more aid. Tell them you really want to go there but can't afford it. Maybe they can give you more money or at least other places to look for loans or grants. If nothing works, don't give up on Cornell, you can try to transfer after a year or two.
