Question of the Day! by kickstart2006-11-19 12:26:49
  Tall order by DesertRat66 2006-11-19 12:55:59
First off Government waste would be addressed. I would start by forming a blue ribbon committee of middle-class housewives and have them evaluate very government agency for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. (Face it if anyone could fix it they could!)

Taxes: Capital Gains - gone! Death Tax - gone! Taxes on income - no changes if at all possible. Corporations - Tax the heck out of them especially if they have overseas payrolls that could be filled by American workers locally. Give generous tax breaks to companies that create jobs in country.

Defense: Bring on the middle class housewives! While high tech is a wonderful thing on the modern battlefield I believe too much emphasis is placed on having the biggest, highest tech solution to every combat problem. First step would be to bolster forces to the level they were at in 1989. Emphasis would be on a highly mobile higly capable force with several integrated batallions (medium armor, air, artillery, infantry) being able to be on the ground and ready for combat anywhere in the world within 24 hours with heavier forces taking no more than a week to deploy. Stealth Aircraft are nice but once the C&C functions and AAA are knocked down bring in less expensive more capable aircraft to deliver knockdown blows. Aircraft like the A-10 Warthog and F-20 Tigershark come to mind.

Terrorism: Comparative analysis of the Patriot act and all post 9-11 measures to the Constitution by an independent review board would be mandatory. All parts considered unconstitutional would be scrapped. Any security measurements taken WRT foreigners entering the U.S. would be applied to all not just select nationalities. Forign countries would be welcomed to institute similar policies WRT U.S. citizens if they so desired. The pre-emptive strike doctrine would be preserved as well as the formation of a new international alliance to combat terrorism. Member countries would supply military SpecWar personell to form a new elite international anti-terrorism force whose sole purpose would be to engage terrorists quickly, efficiently, and if necessary, fataly.

Health Care: Reduce costs by ending frivolous lawsuits as well as limiting damages in cases where a crime is not comitted. Allow prescription drugs to be obtained from any source to keep costs down so long as those sources meet U.S. QC requirements

Gun control: Ugly Gun bans - gone! Push for nationwide concealed carry reciprocity laws, re-federalize the DCM and begin rigorous campaigning to get people interested in participating. Make gun safety mandatory in public schools (i.e. the Eddie Eagle program) with training classes being available later in school to those students with clean academic, and police records who have parental permission.

Education: Nationalize Public Schools. Implement Standardized testing if students can't pass the test in two tries the repeat the grade until they can. Schools with high failure rates will be subject to close scrutiny to include re-evaluation of teacher credentials and program content. No school administrator would be allowed to have a salary more than 20% higher than the highest paid teacher at the school. Programs would be evaluated to ensure money is getting into the classrooms and not some beauracrats pocket.

War on Drugs: Legalize Marijuana and treat it like booze and cigarettes. Harder drugs would not be legalized. Dealers and smugglers would face stiff federal prison sentences.

I'm sure I missed a lot but there's a start!
