As a former camp counselor, I'm mildly surprised that it's the highest paying job you've been able to find.
I'm rather limited in my job options by not having a way to get to and from work... can't afford a car even when I get my license.
I completely understand about the 3rd party scholarships thing. I was getting $2000 a year, half of which was National Merit, but when I changed schools it all disappeared. :-( Does Cornell offer anything in the way of work/study or employment at the school that could be coupled with the financial aid? I know some schools are pretty good at helping work that out. Also, do you have any relatives that might be willing to help pay for your education?
Cornell already expects me to do a work-study as part of the aid package (in addition to my summer contribution). As for relatives... maybe, but unlikely... *ponders writing grandma a letter*
If all else fails, have you considered the millitary as a means to pay for college? (I'm not necessarily reccomending it, just throwing it out as an option.) Or, would you be able to postpone college for a year or two to work and save for it?
I am not willing to join the military. I am a pacifist... I won't even swat flies in the house, let alone be involved in something that might involve killing people. But thanks for the idea. Dunno about the year-or-two off... hafta remember that whatever I do shows up on my application for vet school after my 4 years of college... guess I need to look into whether or not that decreases my chances for getting in.
Thank you for your suggestions. |
