Got my financial aid letter from Cornell. My expected contribution from summer work is $2000 (OK, sounds good...), my expected contribution from student loans is about $9000 (scary, but I guess OK) and my parents' expected contribution is $8,800 (they say there's no way).
I've been applying for 3rd party scholarships all over the place, but haven't gotten anything out of it yet. Theer's no way I'll get anything by April 9th (when I have to decide where I'm going).
Unless I can find a summer job that pays significantly more than $2000, so I can help with my parents' contribution, no Cornell. The highest paying I've been able to find so far is a camp councelor position at $2,200 (dunno if I'd actually be able to get it or not).
Oh, and the April 9th deadline for notifying MSU as to whether or not I take the scholarship from them is coming up WAY too fast. There's no time to find and secure a summer job before that. And my parents don't want to ask for an extension on the decision deadline 'cuz they now see going to MSU as a done deal.
Without some sort of miracle, it looks like no Cornell for me. *tries to hold back tears* |
