right click on desktop, select properties, select <Settings> menu tab
Click <Advanced> button, select <Monitor> tab

Your monitor type is probably "Plug and Play Monitor"

Click <Properties> button (under monitor type box)

Select <Driver> tab, click <Update Driver> Button>, Click <Next> button, Choose "Display a list..." option and click <Next> button,

Choose "Show all hardware..."

Under the standard types should be a list of "Flat Panel Display" types, choose one of them.

At least I think this is what he meant.
