Gee, that was tricky by frause 2004-04-05 12:12:39
I replaced two flourescent tubes in the fixture in my bathroom yesterday. Also replaced the starters. There were two of them, one for each tube, so I figured they were 230V. (230/400V system here)

But it wouldn't work. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work and I could't find where I put the old starters. So I was without light in the bathroom yesterday and this morning.

Just a moment ago i found the old starters and they read 110V. ??? Didn't understand until checking out the fixture and what do I see?

A 110V socket for electric shavers...
Apparently Philips made the decision to put the tubes *after* the transformer... wierd...

Note to self: Read the labels before rushing out and buying those expensive electronic starters!
