News about thermal depolymerization (turkey->oil) by Arcanum2006-11-19 12:55:59
  I hate to rain on the parade but ... by Slamlander 2004-04-05 08:51:28
I have a few problems;
Although Discover, Money and Scientific American magazines have all written wildly enthusiastic stories about the company recently -- Money called it "The Next Big Thing" -- competitors and independent researchers point out that Changing World Technologies has released very little information about the details of its patented process.
  • Sombody is lying here. Patents, by definition, are fully disclosed or you don't get the patent. Either
  • The patent is still pending or
  • they don't really have anything patentable ... ie flim-flam.
    Appel said the company's focus has been on building the Missouri plant, not on publishing scientific papers that he worries could tip off potential competitors.
  • Now I know they're lying. Full disclosure is a requirement of the US Patent office. If they haven't the time to write the papers then they also haven't the time to file for the patent. Considering the techno-commercial benefits, not patenting the process would be extremely stupid ... if it's real.
  • On the other hand, if it's really bogus then I could understand them finding reasons to delay the patent application.
  • I would not become an investor, especially after seeing that article.
