--Gay or straight, white, black, orange, doesn't matter. You can get married. Limits: No animals, no polygamy, and age limitations still exist.
--Government is non-religious and non-special interests. Any politician receiving funds from a business/special interest will be immediately disqualified from running in any election for a period of no less than 5 years. Furthermore, if they are currently in office, they will be removed from their position and fined and/or jailed.
--Defense budgets would be for exactly that, defense. No shipping soldiers to their deaths in random countries, and surely no invasions without just cause (i.e. if there is a direct attack on the country (Please note that 9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq, so don't even try to equate that.))
--Independence from resources of other countries. In case the middle east decides to kill oil production to choke the rest of the world into paying ransoms, alternative sources of fuel will be researched and implemented.
--The government realizes that taxes are a necessary part of the country, as the government needs a way to pay its workers and budgets. The tax rates will be as low as possible to afford the budget as well as an emergency surplus to help the country if external forces interfere with the economy (OPEC/Terrorist attacks/natural disasters). Should the year go by without any problems, the surplus would be refunded to each citizen that paid the tax.
