Acronym. Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations. Profits are for the industry as a whole: yes. Industry claims that auto insurers stand-alone: false. Auto insurer complaints that repair costs skyrocketing: a joke (they practically FORCE you to use THEIR preferred repair shops). Auto insurance is just government sanctioned (enforced?) highway robbery.
