invoke( 'networking ufies'); by bailey 2004-03-17 22:59:09
hi there... I have a slight problem to which the solution has been evading me.

I have a router (a Linksys BEFSX41), two pcs and a powerbook. dhcp is enabled on the router and the pcs pick up their IP's fine from the router. When the powerbook is connected to the router and either turned on or brought out of sleep the column of lights on the router representing the powerbook's connection blinks at a regular rate for 5-10 minutes. After that time it appears that the powerbook has it's ip and can do networking stuff fine. before that it claims that the ethernet cable is not plugged in. I have tried multiple cables and ports on the router (not the wan port of course).

It appears that the powerbook is configured correctly because when I take it to my friend who has the same router, it picks up it's ip within seconds of power on. Even after a reset my router still performs in the manner described above.

Also, the PC's work fine when connected to ports on the router that the powerbook "blinks" with.

so... I'm kinda at a loss here and was hoping that someone here would have some kind advice for me.

thanks..
