...deism and I have to say that some of the groups that call themselves Deists can be pretty intolerant...
I would have to say that those groups are Deists that are really 'Fanatical Militant Deists', of which I will never label myself.
These 'FM Deists' have some decent ideas, up until they start ranting about the 'endless' line of 'evil' emanating from revealed religions.
Personally, I buy into the Deist view of a Creator and that, for the most part, organized religion are definately not my bag, Baby. However, I really have to draw the line regarding some of the more 'brutish' anti-revealed religion stuff these 'FM Deists' speak of...
The way I see it, I have my beliefs and other people have their own beliefs. As long as no one is attempting to 'force' me to follow their beliefs or bring me or mine and others harm, they can really follow whatever beliefs they really want to.
If someone wishes to talk to me about my beliefs and is interested in going over details with me, that's cool. I will share and if they find themselves more interested in my beliefs then they initially thought they were, that's cool too. I will just advise them that they should be careful about the 'FM Deists' as they aren't much better then the extreme right-wing religious fanatics common among other worldly belief systems.
So anyway, I just thought I would share that bit. I don't want to be perceived as one of those 'FM Deists'. Thanks for reading. |
