We did talk with our daughter a couple of times in the last few weeks when it was becoming evident that this day was imminent. She is handling it the best, at least on the outside. We are sending a note to school with her tomorrow so they know in case something would happen, but she seems to be handling it well. Kids have an amazing resilient quality about them. I wish it were the same for adults. She has been thorugh the death of a pet before (she had goldfish for awhile) so she somewhat understands about life and death. We are glad our youngest (a little shy of 20 months) doesn't really understand at all yet. She will probably notice that 'kitty' is missing soon and ask about her, but she really won't grasp the whole situation at that age. We are thankful for that.
