I have Comcast cable at home, and they don't have dial-up. Rather than spend the money on another ISP, I just set up my desktop at home to act as a gateway for dial-upping from my laptop. Which means unplugging the phone line when I'm not using it for increased security/making sure the answering machine works/letting us use the phone for other reasons. :)
