I agree that evolutionary theory tends to get unacceptably simplified (based on my own experience in school and what I see on TV). Nevertheless, kids do ask where they come from and where humans come from. And I won't go for the "bees and flowers" - type of explanation.
So while I'd admit that good teaching on evolution is hard to do and probably seldom found, I won't agree to just saying "heck, let's tell them $creationlegend, it's so much easier".
Oh, and regarding the "bees-and-flowers"-thing, I have seen books that are perfectly suitable for a six year old (whilst probably not FYOSS;). |
