Can you imagine what the gay folk living in that county must be feeling? The very government that is supposed to be there to protect them is working on making them criminals.
Let's repeat that: CRIMINALS.
Though one can hope that the Tennesee legislature would be bright enough not to allow such an outrageous law come into existance, this is the state where a man was tried and convicted of... get this... teaching about evolution. Mind, he wasn't really ever aquitted, rather the case was thrown out over a technicality.
If I were living there, I'd be looking to find a way to stop living there. I'd be a little worried some sick freak would take this as tacit consent from his government to start his murderous campaign to rid his town of homosexuals, including me.
Id' be slightly more worried that some poor soul was about to get the stuffings kicked out of them by a couple of druken freaks who also too this declaration as permition to openly and violently act on thier hatred.
I consider this to be a serious threat, obviously. I know you meant what you said tongue-in-cheek, but it really tweaked my sensibilities. |
