Bush says Iraq has WMDs and it's a simplification and a bad lie.

Kerry Says Iraq has WMDs and it's a clarification and a good lie?

Fascinating!

However the whole issue you are seeming to be missing is the simple fact that since the end of the Gulf War it has been believed that Iraq had WMDs, with the events of 9-11-2001 people started seeing Iraq (a student of Soviet Union Military Doctrine) as a potential supplier of WMDs to terrorist organizations (the existence of Salmon Pak didn't help thinsg either) Now Bush was faced with two choices deal with a potentially deadly terrorist ally and be villified, or ignore a potentially deadly terrorist ally and be villified if/when a fatal attack using WMDs from Iraq was carried out. Bush chose the former, and I feel he chose correctly. One issue that will never be resolved completely is whether or not Iraq had WMDs at the time of the U.S. invasion. If they were destroyed their record keeping and failure to have the destruction witnessed/verified by the UN (which was against the U.N. Mandates) and susequent hampering of efforts by Hans Blix means that Saddam brought the invasion on himself for nothing. If however the WMDs were trucked out of the country or are dispersed in country like in people's back yards finding them will be a nearly impossible task, but hopefully the U.S. actions were severe enough to give anyone pause before considering using them in an attack.
