How many were actually Christians? They were mostly men of faith, but from what I have seen most were deists, and that is certainly Not the same as being Christian, nor can it be considered a Christian sect.

Whether the founders believed in Christianity or not is immaterial to the fact that there is no belief in Christianity whatsoever being referred to in these documents. There is no mention of Jesus or Christ. There is nothing specific to Christianity. There isn't even anything specific to the Judeo-Christian-Moslem belief systems. It just plain isn't there.

Sure they made reference to their beliefs. The believed that all (white) men were created equal. They believed in the rights to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. They believed in their right to rebel against tyranny.

The only Religious beliefs they expressed were the existance of "Nature's God", and a Creator. Those are hardly evidence of Christian influence.
