with Iraq, part of the reason we went to war there. To make an example out of a nation which, despite its rhetoric, refused to offer any substantive cooperation or offer any proof that their intentions were anything other than imperialistic and terroristic.
I still point to Salman Pak, and I still can't figure any other reason for its existence, past the obvious implications.
You say that Libya is willingly giving up their wmd progs and making a shining example of how inspections in Iraq should have gone...
(I'm assuming, w/o consulting media coverage, that the Libyan inspections are going smoothly?)
...but Hussein was playing games with the inspectors, dealing under the table at the UN, getting rich off sanction-flouting deals. I posit that the only reason Libya is giving up their progs is because they realize there's a cowboy in the White House that could have easily been looking for an excuse to come in and clean their chronometers, against the wishes/excuses/back-alley deals of the UN. |
