As many of you know, before world events started the "ticketed passengers only" phenomena, it was actually possible for us mere mortals to go directly to the gate area after clearing security. My dad used to take me and my camera (for I loved photography as much then as I do now) for a day at the airport (Orlando International, to be precise). I so loved doing that--my favorite part was taking the people mover to get from the terminal to the airside...and those huge plate-glass windows: they were perpetually clean, and perfect for photographing the events on the apron. We'd loiter for hours, noting arrivals, departures, "unusual incidents," and just generally have a great time.
*sigh* What's this world coming to when you can't even photograph airplanes without a release, or hang around railroad tracks without showing some ID... |
