The pack of dogs, that is. My family has always functioned as a dog pack; parents alpha male and alpha female, me beta male (due to my father never taking on male dogs) and for a long time, beta female was a sidestepped issue (the two-legged members automatically outrank the four-legged, but my sisters lacked seniority...)...
