Im alten Griechenland hatten die Orakel (also nicht die Datenbanken, sondern die Weissager) ihre Sprüche immer hinter einer Feuerwand, also aus einer Wand aus Feuer, abgelassen, damit niemand sah, wer da den Sinnspruch von sich gab. Der Firewall-Rechner ist so etwas ähnliches. Der sich außerhalb des von der Firewall befindliche Rechner kann zwar kommunizieren, er sieht aber nicht, mit wem er es tut.
