Economical total loss ? by scissors 2004-03-17 02:10:41
We got caught between two cars: one driving slowly before, the other at first driving slowly behind but ... that one was pushed from behind, so now 4 cars damaged.
Ours is called "an economical total loss" which means insurance will not pay for (full) repair costs.
It's a VW Polo, 7 years old etc and "they" say that it's worth "somewhere around" 2500 euro. Repair will be more expensive than that (though we didn't get a realistic estimate on that yet)

Any UFies around who had similar accidents (rear + front damage) and can comment on reparation of such? Is it normally done well, as in "you 'll have a safe car after that", or is it -mostly- just restored to "you can drive it, but i'd get rid of it as soon as possible" ?

I am looking around on second-hand web/magazine/newspaper pages now, because a NEW car will be too expensive. (We're trying to save money, so we can leave the appartment and go for a house-with-a-garden ... in Brussels)
