You have one small advantage though, as a single male all your friends feel your status should be changed. Now on the part of your male friends weither this out of pity or envy is sometimes debatable I admit. From the females friends I think it is because they view an unpartenered male an irristible challenge to their match making skills and also that they feel no mere male is really competant to care for himself.

So I have noticed that lots of my single male collegues get lots of invitations to parties or dinners and such where they sometimes get introduced to sisters/cousins/bests friends of their host and hostess, but most of the time just get wined and dined.
Where as no woman in her right mind invites (or will allow her SO to invite) that dangerous predator, a single female, unless she has a sacrificial male in view for her.
