Even if you do dislike your father, find some way to go. You'll kick yourself for the rest of your life if you don't. That's my two cents. However, I have no knowledge of why you don't like him, or what caused the rift. So take my advice whith a grain of salt; I usually skip over posts that I consider too personal, so I wouldn't have read anyhow. How far away from your father are you? Maybe I can help.
