When I was a SSgt in the Air Force, I took orders from Navy officers, Marine officers and the like. If you look at the Oath, it reads "and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice."
"Appointed over me," is the key line there. Of course, you have to take the situation into consideration as well. If it's a combat situation and you have a combat experienced Marine captain and a Navy commander who runs a chow hall, the commander would show common sense in defering to the more experienced officer. |
