Sort of like that. It's a closed community by invite only. However with LJ(livejournal) you could see the communities. With this you don't have a journal per se(you do have a scrap book but people can't comment on it or anything tho they can post something in it) but there are community message boards. It is an over 18 community tho by far most topics are safe for all ages.
Right now I'm finding I can't log in... url redirection exceeded is the blurb it's giving... <shrug> Anyhoo...
With orkut too tho when logged in you can search it you can't search it from google or other places. It seems protected from robots and is betaware in conjuction with google. I'm in orkut because DragonLady invited me in... she did with several ufies actually.
The groups I'm in are 3 female geek groups. One is women only and you have to ask to be let in/approved others are normal but one doesn't want guys and the other doesn't care. I'm also in 2 gentoo groups, livejournal, bloggers, fibromyalgia, recipe exchange, neopets, sims addicts, nudism, paganism & pantheism, technopaganism, paranormal, canada, british columbia, artsy craftsy, too many hobbies, and a few others.(most are low volume so posting isn't all the time but I read them all when it looks like something new came up)
I like the groups are fairly small(cept for the canadian and blogger ones which are probably like 400 people) and that most poeple know someone there... ie more likely to behave you'd hope. And also that spiders don't seem to get in. I do my journal at lj but had moved to thease other groups but if the spamming doesn't stop and such I'll go back to lj. |
