You're saying "I'm too good to make that kind of money!" like you're above it, and what's more, like you're in a position to be choosy. I, too, am talking about life and the ability to keep paying for it.
First and foremost, you (and everybody else) needs money. Career advancement is secondary to that, and often just a means to more money. Last September before I landed in my present job, I would have been happy to have $12 an hour coming in, with car payments looming, no health insurance at all, and the cupboards getting barer every day.
I was down to this and a $13 an hour job for the DOT that I was ready to fall back on if this one didn't pan out. It wasn't glorious work, and the pay was rotten for someone with my resume, but it was work. And it was money. Sure, there was a fair amount of shame involved in taking something at such a lower level of work, but I got over it real quick after a look in the checkbook.
But if you're in a position to be bitter about a job opportunity, then all the more power to you. I know lots of unemployed people wish they were like that. |
